Board Elections 2012-2013
The Columbus Alumnae Association is now seeking nominees for the 2012-2013 Board of Directors. Serving on the Board is a great way to be involved in the decision making and event planning for the Association. Board meetings are typically held on a bi-monthly basis, and the time commitment varies by position. There are a wide variety of positions available - please see the descriptions below. Elections will take place at the open Board meeting on January 25, 2012 (elections are early this year to accommodate a Spring convention).

We are looking for Association members to serve on the nominating committee for the 2012-2013 Board. Committee members will work with the Nominating Committee Chair, Amy N., to recruit members to fill Board positions. 2012-2013 Position Descriptions
Elected Positions:
President
- To preside at all meetings.
- To supervise planning of the program.
- To supervise the work of the other officers and committees.
- To hold election of officers prior to April 30 of each year.
- To appoint, subject to the approval of the Executive Board, any chairmen and committees as may be necessary.
- To appoint each year, at the time requested, the Membership Reference Chairman.
- To keep in contact with the Province Director of Alumnae and to send to the Province Director of Alumnae and/or Fraternity Headquarters any forms, reports or information by their due date.
Secretary
- To record the minutes of all meetings.
- To keep the historical records and maintain the archives of the association.
- To send alumnae association news to the Editor of The Key.
- To send by February 1, to the Province Director of Alumnae, the Regional Director of Alumnae and the Director of Alumnae, the association program for the current year and a directory or list of all local dues-paying alumnae with their addresses.
- To maintain a file of all local alumnae with their addresses.
- To identify and secure award pins for any eligible 50-, 65- and 75-year Kappas who are interested in being honored by the association.
- To send to the Province Director of Alumnae and Fraternity Headquarters any change of officers or their addresses.
Membership Development Chairman
- In cooperation with the Secretary and Treasurer, maintain a current list of dues-paying members.
- Greet Kappas at meetings, introduce newcomers to others and help Kappas connect with one another.
- Review galleys to identify Kappas that are new to the area. Contact those new to the area, invite them to the next meeting and welcome them.
- Review galleys to identify trends, such as a large number of new graduates or retirees living in the area, and share trends with the Program Chairman.
- Form a committee to call all members on the galleys to update information and offer invitations to upcoming events.
- Send address changes to Headquarters in a timely manner.
- Work with the President to welcome Owls Out on a Limb and other newcomers to the association.
- Keep the historical record of former dues-paying members of the alumnae association. Compare list of current dues-payers to former dues-payers and send gentle reminders to those who have not yet joined the association.
- Contact the local Advisory Board Chairman and House Board President, if applicable, to remind them that members need to be in good standing to serve the chapter. Verify that all association officers have paid their dues.
Treasurer
- To keep the treasury books.
- To collect association dues and send to Fraternity Headquarters the per capita fees and an alphabetized list of dues-paying members on or before December 1.
- To send additional fees for new members, along with their names, before April 30.
- To disburse funds as required and to keep an accurate account of all receipts and disbursements.
- To prepare and send the annual budget to the Province Director of Alumnae, if desired, and to have charge of the operation of the budget under the supervision of the Executive Board.
- To prepare and send a yearly financial report on forms furnished by Fraternity Headquarters to the Province Director of Alumnae by May 31.
Appointed Positions:
50-year Kappa Member Luncheon - Plan and execute the December luncheon for the alumnae who have been members of Kappa Kappa Gamma for 50 or more years.
Founders Day – Plan and execute the October event that celebrates Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Founders Day.
Graduation/Senior Ceremonies – Plans events for the graduating seniors at local universities to welcome them to alumnae status.
NightOwls Chair – Create programming events for members of the Alumnae Association who are 40 years and younger (or young at heart).
Social Media Chair – Create and update social media outlets for Alumnae Association. Manage the Association email and PayPal accounts.
Service/Philanthropy Chair – Serve as the local representative for the Fraternity’s national philanthropy, Reading Is Fundamental. Plan and execute a local RIF event and other service and philanthropy events as needed.
Panhel Delegate – Attend local Panhellenic meetings to represent Fraternity. Attend Alumnae Association Board meetings to relay information presented at Panhel meetings.
PR/Newsletters – Create, publish, and distribute an annual mailing/newsletter for the Alumnae Association. Manage regular event updates to the Association.
Vice President/Programming -- Create the annual program calendar. Encourage and support the Association in executing these events.
