A Great Lineup of Guest Authors Ensures

Another Successful Dinner

We had a glorious evening celebrating the 20 th Annual Kappa Book & Author Dinner on September 22 nd at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center. Over 550 people attended – an increase of 100 over last year! Patrons started the evening in the swanky penthouse Centennial Room with sweeping views of the Denver skyline, while they enjoyed cocktails, passed appetizers and a chance to meet the authors and buy their books. Later, the dining room sparkled with special martini glass and orchid centerpieces and a carved ice sculpture provided by Craig Hospital in honor of our 20 th event.

The lines were long to meet Robert Wagner, who was as charming and debonair as we all expected. He patiently posed for numerous pictures with our guests and amused us with Hollywood anecdotes. C.J. Box brought humor and a touch of the modern West to the program, as he discussed his popular crime fiction series. He even wore his black cowboy hat — he said he can’t speak without it! Joan Ryan touched us (and sent many mothers rushing over to the book sales line) with her message to celebrate the child you have, rather than the one you thought you would have. New emcee Molly Hughes did a terrific job, and our guests left with a smile after a very enjoyable evening. The authors had a great time, too and were very complimentary about the event and their Kappa hostesses.

We are very pleased to announce that the 2009 Book & Author Dinner raised over $60,000, which will fund scholarships through Craig Hospital's Hahn Scholarship Fund, the Iris Foundation and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation.
