KKG - DESAA involved in the Community

Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. (RIF), works to build a literate nation by helping young people discover the joy of reading. RIF's highest priority is to serve the nation's under-served children and families through the development and delivery of literacy programs and campaigns that motivate youth to read regularly.

About KKG -DESAA and RIF:

In keeping with Kappa Kappa Gamma National’s commitment to Reading Is Fundamental, DESAA provides books to fourth grade students at Hamtramck Academy in Hamtramck, MI. One of our DESAA members is a teacher at the school. She selects a book for each student which meets their reading level and interests. We wrap these books and bring them to the students in May. DESAA also provides two sets of books so that each student has access to a copy of a book being read by the entire class. There is a need for volunteers to read one-on-one with the students. If you would like to become a reading buddy to a child, please contact us.
