The Ft. Lauderdale Kappa Alumnae Association was founded on May 1st, 1959. We celebrated our 50 year anniversary in 2009 and have had many accomplishments since our first charter.

Our association meets from September through May, and hold events monthly. Every other year, we are fortunate to send a delegate to the Biennial Convention and also to the Province Meetings to represent the Ft. Lauderdale Alumnae Association. Our members are represented throughout the community in Junior League of Greater Ft. Lauderdale, Stranahan House, Kids in Distress, and Leadership Broward among others.

At the 68th Biennial Convention in 2010, we took home two awards, the Patsy Bredwick Lebang Philanthropy Award and the Heritage Award! We also received honorable mention for the Communication/Public Relations Award and the McNaboe Most Outstanding Association Award (only second to the Atlanta Alumnae Association)!

At the 2009 Mu Province meeting held in Atlanta, we received the Outstanding Communication Award!

We have been recognized at the Biennial Conventions and the Province Meetings for our committment to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. The Ft. Lauderdale Alumnae Association is a member of the Adelphi Society and has contributed over $15,000 to the Foundation. We have established the Barbara Marko Scholarship Fund, to honor a former Ft. Lauderdale Alumnae President who had been diagnosed with cancer but a true Kappa lady in everyone's heart. The scholarship is awarded to a Kappa at each Biennial Convention and is an endowed scholarship. We have achieved the McNaboe Award for many years for our programming and communications.  The Ft. Lauderdale Alumnae have also won awards for Creative Programming for our wonderful variety of events. The Ft. Lauderdale Alumnae Association is very proud of our accomplishments and our commitment to excellence!

WOW! Let’s keep this enthusiasm going for 2011-2012!
