The Greater Los Angeles Alumnae Association
Founded in 1944, the Greater LA Alumnae Association has been bringing Kappa alumnae together in the LA area for over 65 years. Our area reaches from LAX to Malibu and Santa Monica to Downtown. The diversity of our membership is remarkable, with Kappas from 29 different states and many different colleges and universities. In addition to our monthly large group events, our interest groups are also very active, with smaller group events going on all the time.
A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Greater LA Kappas!
It is with much enthusiasm I come in as the President for the 2011-2012 year. Some of my closest friends are Kappas who I’ve met through events hosted by the Greater Los Angeles Alumnae Association at events such as Night Owls, Susan G. Komen Walk, and volunteering on a Chapter Advisory Board. I’ve also had the opportunity to share Kappa with my friends and family through our scholarship fundraising event; Day at the Races in May. I am so pleased with the relationships I have made through Kappa and am looking forward to making many more, I want to encourage all of you to find those people and create those bonds of sisterhood.
The 2011-2012 board has put together a great calendar for the next year with fun events starting with our Kick-Off Party on September 24th. We’re working to listen to your requests and are offering a variety of activities. In attending these events, we hope you have the chance to meet new people, confidantes, mentors, co-workers, business connections and, of course, sisters. We also want to make sure we’re challenging you to grow through education, inspiration, service to the community and in your life and careers. We’ve got a wonderful membership contest which is starting NOW! So, get your membership dues paid and start spreading the word about Kappa in LA. Share Kappa...Win Shades!
This year we’re working to utilize committees. If we all contribute a little time then the association becomes a reflection of all of us and will allow everyone to enjoy each event to its fullest. So, take a minute and think about which committee you would prefer to be on; Fundraising/Philanthropy, Events, or Membership/Hospitality. If you have ideas to make an event successful; we always welcome suggestions and definitely volunteers!
This is only the beginning! Ladies, I look forward to the 2011-2012 year in Los Angeles and in Kappa!
