The Greater Los Angeles Alumnae Association
Philanthropy 1-2-3
As individuals with time, talents and treasures, Kappas first support our sisters; second, we participate in local service projects; and third, we serve the greater good. We have a dedicated interest group, Community Kappas, which focuses on philanthropic and community service opportunities in Los Angeles.
Our association members volunteer with PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) and local reading programs. Past fundraising efforts have supported causes such as Project Angel Food, UNICEF, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, UCLA Brain Tumor Program and The 9/11 Memorial Fund (we have 2 cobblestones at the Memorial Plaza in New York City).
Our annual fundraising event, Day at the Races, raises money for our Greater Los Angeles Kappa Kappa Gamma Undergraduate Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded each year to a member of one of our local Kappa chapters at USC, UCLA and Pepperdine.
Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), our official philanthropic partner, has been supported financially and through the donation of hundreds of books and volunteer hours to local elementary reading programs.
Our members also have supported the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation with financial gifts and Rose McGill magazine subscription sales to help fund scholarships, confidential aid, education and training, and support of our two museums.
