The New Orleans Alumnae Association
PHILANTHROPY 1-2-3
As individuals with time, talents and treasures, Kappas first support our sisters; second, we participate in local service projects; and third, we serve the greater good.
Our Philanthropies
Our chapter women support elementary schools, Relay for Life, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Habitat for Humanity to name a few. Chapter fundraising events support causes such as the American Cancer Society, breast cancer/Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, tsunami relief, and multiple sclerosis research.
In 2004, the Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity selected Reading is Fundamental (RIF) as its national philanthropy. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., RIF is the oldest and largest children's and family nonprofit literacy organization in the U.S. The organization provides 4.5 million under served children with 16 million new, free books and literacy resources each year. Since 2004, Kappa's collegiate chapters and alumnae associations have contributed funds, volunteer time, and materials to support RIF. In July 2008, RIF recognized Kappa as its Donor of the Month. The New Orleans Kappa Alumnae Association supports RIF by donating thousands of books and volunteer hours to Boys and Girls Clubs, elementary schools and hospitals.
Our chapters support the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation with financial gifts and Rose McGill magazine subscription sales to help fund scholarships, confidential aid, education and training, and support of our two museums.
Our 2010-2011 Goals
There are so many ways you can help support our goals. You can help plan an Alumnae Association event, donate funds, simply attend one of our events, or volunteer in your community. Any help you can give will make our communities better!
