The Northern Virginia Alumnae Association

Dear Northern Virginia Kappa Alumnae:
I am so excited to be serving as the President of our association for the 2011-2012 membership year. When I was nominated as President, I had to make a choice about becoming President or continuing to serve as the Coordinator of Chapter Support for Lambda Province. I thought about it and decided to resign my position as CCS because I have enjoyed being involved again on the alumna side. I have made so many friends, and I enjoy going to meetings and events to see them. I didn’t want to give that up. The sense of friendship and fun that I have found with members of our association is what I hope each of you will also experience this year. There are many ways to connect with other Kappas in our association. Join one of our interest groups, attend one of our events or volunteer for one of our committees or boards. I promise you that if you start getting active you will meet some wonderful sisters!!
My goal as President is to increase membership through changing the way we think about our alumnae association membership. This year, the association is starting to use an association management database system to better keep track of and manage our members. This new system will improve communication with our current and prospective members, making it easier for everyone to establish or renew their membership and helping our association to grow. With this new system, our goal is to have everyone renewing their membership annually. By doing so, you contribute to the success of our association and the Fraternity at large, and you receive the benefits of the fun and friendship that we offer in our social events and philanthropic activities.
The changes that you will be seeing online will reflect our technology push. We have just started them this summer. As we unveil more and more pieces, I will be in touch so that you can go online and take a look! It is very exciting.
Overall, I am just thrilled to share my love of Kappa with each of you. Be sure to check out all of the exciting events planned for the coming year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any ideas, questions or concerns. I am looking forward to a great year!
