Help us Reach Our Philanthropy Goals

Reading Is Key
In 2008, Kappa launched "Reading is Key," a nationwide event hosted every February by collegiate chapters and alumnae associations across the country to benefit RIF and other children's literacy programs.
Last year, the NoVA Alumnae Association worked with Child and Family Network Centers (CFNC), which is based in Alexandria, Virginia. The organization provides free preschool education to bilingual, low-income households, and is sustained only through grants and donations. We threw a party for the children to celebrate the joy of reading with a "Reading Railroad" theme. There were four different "stations," each with its own activity. The children created their own books and book bags, displayed their creations, and perform their new stories.
The event was an unbelievable success, and we will be hosting a similar event this year. If you would like to help organize or participate in this year's event, please contact our Philanthropy Chair.
Rose McGill - Holiday Sharing
The Rose McGill Fund raises money by selling magazine subscriptions, and the fund raised help Kappas in times of need. Kappas who are struggling financially can apply to Rose McGill to receive funds to help them through their rough times. Rose McGill has provided love, sisterhood, and assistance to the victims of natural disasters, economic fluctuations, and sever illnesses, including some very special members of our own Association.
By participating in the Rose McGill Holiday Sharing program, the NoVA Alumnae Association does its share to assist in this great endeavor. The fraternity sends us the name of a sister in need and a list of items that will help to make her holiday season a little brighter. We then do our best to make her holiday wishes come true.
We accept donations for this endeavour throughout the year. If you would like to donate, please contact our Philanthropy Chair.
Holiday Hoot
The Holiday Hoot is the NoVA Alumnae Association's biggest philanthropic fundraiser of the year. The funds raised at this event allow us to support RIF, the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation, and the Reading is Key event. The Silent Auction helped at this event has included items such as a weekend at a relaxing beach house, gourmet food baskets, Kappa trinkets, jewelry, and much more. We also hold a used book and magazine sale at the Holiday Hoot.
We accept donations for the silent auction and book sale throughout the year. If you have any items you would like to donate, or if you know of any business that would donate goods or services for the auction, please contact our Philanthropy Chair or our VP of Fundraising.
