Orange County Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma

PRESIDENT’S WELCOME

Dear Kappa Sisters,

The biennial Convention of Kappa Kappa Gamma is always an outstanding event. This year’s celebration at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa in Phoenix, June 23-27, 2010, was no exception. There is always the excitement of Kappas from across the United States and Canada gathering together to be inspired and challenged, to embrace and to celebrate the joy of Kappa sisterhood. This year’s Convention was a very special thrill to those of us who call Orange County Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma our own. At the Thursday night Awards Banquet, we were honored with honorable mention for Rose McGill Magazines and for Communications. We were called to the stage to receive the Sally Moore Nitschke Lifelong
Education Award, a top award for effectively implementing programming that enhances individual competencies, promotes life skills and best utilizes available resources. Yahoo! And the culmination of the evening was the announcement of the McNaboe Most Outstanding Association Award. The winner: OCAA! Thank you Kappa Kappa Gamma sisters of Orange County and Long Beach. This exciting recognition is the culmination of a history of effort and excellence. Sharon Hendrix and I appreciate our board members, all of our outstanding hostesses and every AA member throughout our respective terms as president. To each of you reading this, embrace Kappa sisterhood and take pride in our accomplishments.

Looking forward to 2010/2011, our theme is “Bridging the Generations through our
Kappa Sisters”. At a Brainstorming Session, we got input from members of all ages.
Reflecting this theme, a very exciting, entertaining and educational year with a variety of pertinent topics has been planned. One meeting is “Communication/Technology”. Another is “Relationships Throughout Different Life Stages”. The year would not be complete without a cooking event so a “Tasting” is scheduled with a goal of creating an OCAA cookbook. We will celebrate Founders Day with Zeta Eta, our chapter at the University of California, Irvine and will enjoy a Holiday Luncheon plus our Salads and Seniors meeting. There are so many opportunities to renew friendships and make new acquaintances through our monthly meetings and the many dynamic interest groups such as Book Group, Lunch Bunch, Night Owls, Bridge, Mom’s Group and Outdoor Group.

Hoorah for Kappa Kappa Gamma! Thank you for the privilege and honor of continuing as president for this upcoming year. Please join us and be part of the OCAA experience.

Loyally,
Jane Haxton-Edholm
