Philanthropy 1-2-3

As individuals with time, talents and treasures, Kappas first support our sisters; second, we participate in local service projects; and third, we serve the greater good.

Our  women support elementary schools, Relay for Life, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Habitat for Humanity to name a few. Chapter fundraising events support causes such as the American Cancer Society, breast cancer/Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, tsunami relief, and multiple sclerosis research.

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), our official philanthropic partner, has been supported through the donation of thousands of books and volunteer hours to Boys and Girls Clubs, elementary schools and hospitals.

Our associations also have supported the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation with financial gifts and Rose McGill magazine subscription sales to help fund scholarships, confidential aid, education and training, and support of our two museums.

The San Francisco/Marin Alumnae Association is proud to participate in several philanthropic events throughout the year.  Past events have included the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure, Friends of the Public Library used book sale, and BayKids which uses filmmaking as a creative outlet for children facing serious illness.  Please see our Events Calendar for upcoming philanthropic activities!

Other ways to contribute

We will gladly accept donations for the following national philanthropies as well:

  • Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation
    • Mission Statement: "To deliver educational and leadership training, preserve the Fraternity's heritage from an historical perspective, provide scholarships and offer financial assistance to members in need by developing the financial resources to support these programs."
    • Please visit www.kappa.org for more information.
  • Rose McGill Fund:  Renew Your Magazine Subscriptions Through the Rose McGill Magazine Program & Help Kappas in Financial Need
    • The Rose McGill Fund, established in 1922, has many programs which give confidential aid to deserving Kappas of all ages who suddenly and unexpectedly find themselves in financial need due to misfortune or illness. The Magazine Agency was begun soon after as a means of supplementing the money in the Fund.
    • Please make Rose McGill your first call when ordering or renewing publications. It's as simple as calling 1-800-KKG-ROSE. Rose McGill matches renewal prices, sometimes finding even better rates. Two thirds of every subscription cost goes into the Fund and a third funds the Magazine Agency.
