Reading is Fundamental (RIF)
In 2004, Kappa Kappa Gamma selected Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) as its national philanthropy and has since graciously donated thousands of books, volunteer hours, and dollars to support RIF. In 2009, the Fraternity began the Reading is Key initiative. Throughout February and March, Kappa chapters and alumnae associations across the US and Canada are holding Reading is Key events to promote children’s literacy and RIF.
Eta Nu Chapter members with 1st grade class at Briarwood ElementaryEach year the San Jose Alumnae Association teams up with the Eta Nu chapter & a local elementary school to provide 1st graders with a remarkable reading experience in conjunction with Dr. Seuss's Birthday! Each child receives a book to take home; these books are collected from Kappa alumnae throughout the year, specifically during our holiday party. Additionally, chapter & alumnae members spend time reading to and making crafts with school children, all in an effort to spread the joy of reading and instill the importance of lifetime learning to all who have the pleasure of taking part in this very special event.
We hope to see you at our 2013 Reading is Key event!
