Philanthropy

Philanthropy has become an inseparable part of Kappa life for both collegians and alumnae. In 2004, Kappa announced its first-ever national philanthropy project, Reading is Fundamental. Given the multiple opportunities for philanthropy, the National Fraternity adopted the tagline, "Philanthropy 1-2-3" to describe the ideal approach to giving.

"As individuals with time, talent and treasure, we first support our families. Second we participate in local projects. Third we look to the greater good—projects with far-reaching results.

To apply this to a chapter or association, first we support our family—the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. Second we participate in local campus and community projects. Third, we support the greater good, by joining with all Kappas everywhere to support Reading is Fundamental." (Source: kkg.org)

In keeping with the Kappa mission of philanthropy, this association has become actively involved in supporting several local and national organizations, including:

Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation:

Eligible Kappa’s are supported by the Foundation, which designates confidential aid, undergraduate emergency grants, Circle Key Alumnae grants, as well as Rose McGill Scholarships, and Fellowships. The Foundation also supports the Heritage Museum, Leadership and Educational Programs.

Rose McGill Foundation:

Established in 1922 to help a needy Kappa sister, the Rose McGill Fund raises money through the sale of magazine subscriptions. Approximately 50% of the price of every magazine purchased through this program is donated to this fund. To order magazines, log onto www.kkg.org and click on Philanthropy and then "Rose McGill Magazine Agency".  You can brose the online catalogue and place your magazine order securely via the Internet.  Or you may call KKG Magazine at (800) KKG-ROSE. In addition, we participate is in Christmas Sharing with a Kappa in the Rose McGill program. We receive a list of requests from a Kappa and send our gifts during the holidays.
