Welcome to the ΚΚΓ Williamsburg Alumnae Association
Dear Kappa Sisters—we are an association of about 60 members from many universities including the College of William and Mary. We are lucky to be in an area with a Kappa chapter, Gamma Kappa at William and Mary. In fact February 16, 2013, we celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Chapter's founding with a party attended by actives and alumnae.
At the March 2013 Lambda Province Meeting in Northern Virginia, our Association was recognized as "best overall" (associations with 50 or more members). Additionally the GK Advisory Board received the top award for advisory boards, and GK was selected as the recipient of the chapter philanthropy award. So all in all Williamsburg Kappas had a very successful Province Meeting.
The awards recognize what we have accomplished the last biennium--our philanthropic efforts, programs with interesting speakers, events with GK actives, the GK house renovation, support of the GK Advisory and House Boards, and trips to museums and historical sites. We have developed an excellent record of support, organization, and leadership through the efforts of many and, in so doing, have enriched our sisterly bonds.
Williamsburg Kappas are fortunate to be able to work with the GK actives. These young women are especially hard working and excel in their academics. Additionally they are active participants on campus in a variety of activities including philanthropy, not only at the College, but also in the local community. In April the Williamsburg-James City County Community Action Agency, at its 10th annual Community of Stars banquet, will recognize the chapter as one of seven local volunteers, businesses, and organizations, which have strengthened and supported the Agency by giving their time and resources. Quite an honor!!!
I hope that you will join us for one or more of our programs, which run through May. If you are new to the area and/or have not been involved, please contact me at email@example.com and renew your Kappa Konnection, as we are always anxious to welcome new members.
