Rose McGill Holiday Sharing Program

Sisters Helping Sisters
As chairs of the KKG Rose McGill Holiday Sharing Program for the Austin Alumnae Association (AAA), we are writing to ask for donations for two of our sisters, Lynda and Sasha.
Lynda is the single mom of a teen-age daughter. Three years ago, Lynda was laid off from her government position due to budget cuts. She began applying for jobs but was told repeatedly that she was overqualified. She scraped by working periodically as a substitute teacher. Eventually, she and her daughter moved into an apartment with her mother. By sharing expenses, they were able to make ends meet. However, last December, her mother died unexpectedly. Their landlord threatened to evict them. At a time when she should have been grieving, Lynda had to pack up, dispose of her mother’s possessions and move. She is valiantly working to make a stable life for herself and her daughter.Sasha is an under-graduate student with a 4.0 GPA. She is studying Marketing and Finance, and has a passion for art and mathematics. Even though she is a sophomore, she already has had two professional experiences including her current job with one of the biggest telephone and internet providers. She hopes to pursue her career with this company - all of which exemplifies her motivation and goal-oriented nature. Sasha's step-father has been unsupportive, and Sasha's mother recently made the difficult decision to leave him, taking Sasha's three year old epileptic sister with her. Sasha's mother is no longer able to support Sasha financially. Rose McGill assistance helped Sasha not only financially but gave her peace of mind to deal with her circumstances. She has been able to stay in school and pursue her studies. Kappa is family to Sasha. She wants to serve her chapter as much as she can to make sure her sisters feel like they have the support that she was able to receive.
It's time to help our sisters in need. As Kappas we are a family blessed with many sisters. Two of our sisters need us, and it is our honor and privilege to be able to help. Let’s join together to help Lynda and Sasha have a wonderful Christmas. The AAA's budget line item for the Holiday Sharing Program will be used to purchase gifts for Lynda and Sasha but we are asking for donations to help fulfill all of their wishes.
Specific items needed include:
• Visa Gift Cards
• Target Gift Cards
• Walmart Gift Cards
• Amazon Gift Cards
We will be accepting donations until November 11th. If you are interested in helping, please email us or simply drop a gift card on our door step. Checks should be made out to Austin KKG Alumnae Association. Our contact information is below.
Thank you in advance for your support. We are excited to make Lynda's and Sasha's Christmas merry & bright.
