Kappa Kappa Gamma encourages alumnae associations to first support the Kappa family through donations to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. These donations fund education and training for all members, the Rose McGill Fund, our museums, and undergraduate and graduate scholarships. Second, Kappa asks associations to be involved in their local communities through service and fundraisers. Third, Kappa is partnered with Reading is Fundamental (RIF) who works to build a literate nation by helping young people discover the job of reading.
Throughout the year, the Columbus Alumnae Association participates in all of these efforts. We continue to support the Foundation and adopt a Rose McGill aid recipient through the Holiday Sharing program. We also continue to raise funds for Kappa Kidney Camp, our Gamma province philanthropy, and we hope to have several members attend Kappa Day at the camp next summer.
Lastly, to support efforts to end illiteracy, we hold local reading events for underserved children. The Columbus Alumnae Association sponsored its first Reading is Key event in February of 2011 and has sponsored a similar event annually since then. Reading is Key events consist of live book readings, snacks, crafts, and the gift of a book for each child in attendance. Look here for more information on Reading is Key events.
We would love to have you involved in any or all of these efforts. Contact us to ask questions or get involved, and continue to check the website for updates and event details.
