From Your President… . 2015-2016
Dear Sisters of Kappa Kappa Gamma,
As Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes, “to everything there is a season”. This year completes my term as president. I have enjoyed serving as your president but it is time to pass the torch. We will be forming a nominating committee to find the new president. If you know anyone that would make a good president or if you are interested, please let me know. We do not want our association to go inactive and without new leadership , we will have no choice.Haley Claxton will also be serving her last year as Panhellenic delegate. There will be a need for that position as well to have Kappa represented JAAPA. Thank you Haley for your service and enjoy your time with little Benjamin! Our newsletters have been printed gratis for us the past two years and we are unable to do that this year. As most of you know, the per capita fee which assists the Fraternity with expenses for association and chapter assistance, technology, Headquarter staff, real-time training, mailing of The Key magazine and educational outreach increased by $5 last year. However, the officers chose not to increase our dues of $35. We may have to evaluate mailing of newsletters to all on the galleys for next year because of the expense. Our local portion of dues goes toward printing and mailing of the newsletter, Christmas tea invitations, door prizes, subsidization of meetings and hostess gifts for meetings as well as 50, 65 and 75 year pins . Because of the contribution of the printing and your generosity, we were able to make a contribution to the renovation of the library at Galloway Elementary as part of our Reading is Fundamental initiative.Thank you so much to those who have contributed over and beyond the minimum dues of $35!Sapphire levelSharon SealeWalterine OdomFrances Permenter SmithKent PetersPaula WimbishFleur de LisGlenda CoxKelly Dumas WoodLinda GardnerDiane HesselbeinBecky ConleyMary Virginia YoungbloodPaula Crystal ErlichCindy MitchumHeather Shea ViseSarah BrownTeresa MendenhallHaley ClaxtonKappas are certainly giving ladies and we were also able to contribute 16 books for the Books for Tots Jackson Municipal Library drive. We also participated in Holiday Sharing for the second year in a row and will again this coming year. We will receive our recipient’s info and list in September and I will be sure to send it out. Many of you will remember Hermine Granberry . She is now our regional PDA and she has encouraged some of the Kappas from Vicksburg to attend our events and she hopes to as well.Thank you all for your support and your encouragement during my tenure! I look forward to a fun and fulfilling year!
