Kappa Kick-Off 2014 will be held Sunday, September 24th!
Kappa Kick-Off 2013
Kappa Kick-Off is our annual meet-and-greet event to start off the Alumnae Association year - the kids are back in school, everyone is home from summer traveling, and it is time to get charged up for a great year of activities with the Portland Kappas! Held this year at the new Elephant's Delicatessen on SW Corbett, Kappa Kick Off was a great success!
As part of this event, we had representatives for our local philanthropy, SMART (Start Making a Reader Today), on hand to share with us the importance of SMART's services are to area children and how we can continue to make a difference with this group. SMART provides each child in their program with two new books a month to encourage reading at home - the cost of purchasing of new books is the largest portion of their annual budget. Our book donations really help support SMART in this process and free up much needed funds. SMART is excited that the Portland Kappas have again made a goal of 250 books donated in 2013-2014.
We also learned more about the Kappa run non-profit, Project Lemonade, from Beta Omega Alum and founder Rhonda Meadows
Kick-Off is a great event for first time members or anyone new to the area, as well as a chance for active members to catch up with sisters after the busy summer.
A group of Gamma Mu alums enjoyed participating at this event with Gamma Mu liaison, Melissa Henderson.
A group of visiting Emory Kappa alumnae were able to attend the event with local members Joan Hunter and Emily Kyser.
Several young alumnae members attended including our Events Chair, Katie Watkins, who planned this successful Kick Off!
Usually held in early to mid-September, we look forward to seeing you at Kick-Off 2014!!!
