A Message from your President - September 2015

Dear Kappa Sisters,

As we begin this new year of Kappa sisterhood, we have already enjoyed one lovely evening together at Chocolate Angel in Richardson. Membership Chairman, Kathleen Ray, introduced to us several of the new members of our association. Make these Kappas welcome when you meet them throughout the year. Also, please think about a Kappa in your life who is not actively involved with an alumnae association. She could be a pledge sister, a neighbor or a friend. Invite her to attend a meeting with you or to join us at Founders Day on October 13. Kappa is for a lifetime.

The Day Group, the Wise Owls and the Night Owls have planned interesting programs for this year. You are invited and welcome to attend the meetings of any group or of all groups depending on your schedule and interests. Philanthropically, we are a generous and giving group; we will continue to support local charities with our donations at each month's meeting.

Many of you attended the 50th Anniversary Gala in March. Judi Hamby and her committee planned and executed a memorable luncheon and style show. A number of past presidents and Fraternity oļ¬ƒcers attended along with many, many of you. Melissa Tucker was emcee of a style show representing each decade of Richardson/Plano Alumnae Association's existence. No one will forget the image of one unnamed model who walked the runway in a maternity dress with cigarette and Champaign flute in hand as might have happened "back in the day."

In the 2014 Fall Newsletter, the President's Letter included this statement: "Last year's board took the bold step to initiate an endowed scholarship through the KKG Foundation as we look to the future of our fraternity." In this year's Newsletter, we are proud to announce to the membership that we have funded not one, but two scholarships in the name of Richardson/Plano Alumnae Association. The first scholarship was presented to a well qualified Kappa at Texas A&M this year. The generosity of this group astonishing. If you have not had an opportunity to donate or to pledge, please contact Judy Ducate and she will give you details. And thank you again to all who donated to this initiative.

I look forward to seeing you at our events this year!

Loyally,

Janie Henderson

Richardson/Plano Alumnae Association, President 2015-2016
