Supporting Kappa's 1-2-3 Philanthropy Philosophy
Philanthropy 1: Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation
The KKG Foundation works to enhance the lives of Kappa women by providing funds for educational programs, scholarships, financial aid and the preservation of Kappa heritage within the context of women's history.
Our membership options now includes a “fleur de lis” level. At this level, members can donate money that will be donated as a group on behalf of the Stars and Stripes Alumnae Association. The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation is an amazing Foundation that supports our sisters in so many different ways!
We also participate in the Rose McGill Holiday Sharing Program, which allows our Association to partner with a Kappa and her family in need to help make their holiday season a bit brighter by providing items from their wish list.
For 2012-13, we are also taking part in a special project to raise $100 for to engrave a brick on behalf of our association to help support the Minnie Stewart House, home of one of our six fraternity founders.
Philanthropy 2 - S&S Association Philanthropy
By completing our online form with the Name and Address of your loved one (or self!) who is currently deployed, our group will provide a care package on behalf of the Stars and Stripes AA.
If you are interested in “adopting” a Stars and Stripes Kappa (or loved one) who is deployed please contact email@example.com, and we will provide you with the contact information for where to send packages.
We are working to establish a Scholarship for a deserving Stars and Stripes Kappa to pursue their own business, educational goals or philanthropic works. The scholarship will be given in June of each year. Look for the application in the next few months!
- Local Chapter Involvement
We encourage our members to participate with local active chapters whether as an adviser or volunteer at philanthropy events to continue the connection between actives and alumnae.
Philanthropy 3 - Reading is Fundamental
Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. works to build a literate nation by helping young people discover the joy of reading. RIF's highest priority is to serve the nation's under-served children and families through the development and delivery of literacy programs and campaigns that motivate youth to read regularly.
In February, we will be holding a month-long book drive to support local member involvement with Reading is Fundamental. Our goal is raise $500 for RIF!
S&S members also work to support literacy with involvement with this special organization. United Through Reading is a nonprofit that promotes the read aloud experience for separated military families, offers deployed parents the opportunity to be video-recorded reading storybooks to their children which creates positive emotional connections and cultivates a love of reading.
